Optometrist

POSITION SUMMARY

The Optometrist shall participate in all aspects of optometric care, including primary eye care and medical optometry. Must be able to accurately examine and diagnose vision problems, diseases of the eye, prism fitting and perform contact lens fitting of rigid gas permeable and specialty fit contacts such as scleral lenses.

Required Skills

1. Demonstrated expertise in refraction ability.
2. Demonstrated expertise in evaluating and fitting contact lenses.
3. Comfortable with glaucoma screening, diabetic screening and post operative cataract surgery patients
4. Medical Optometry; along with basic Optometry.
5. Organizational and communication skills with ability to interact closely with Ophthalmologists in the practice.
6. Excellent customer service skills.
7. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal and conflict resolution abilities.
8. Comfortable working with Electronic Health Record.

Required Experience

1. Current unrestricted California Optometry license
2. Graduate from an accredited Optometry School
3. At least two (2) years of full time experience in clinical practice as an Optometrist; Optometry Residency Required
4. Evidence of continuing education and self-development to support license requirements
