This role plays a key part in managing outreach to PIH Health Foundation supporters through personalized communication, including phone calls, letters, and emails; and remain attentive to planned giving opportunities.
In addition, this position will manage the PIH Health Foundation’s Circle of Excellence donor giving program, ensuring a high level of stewardship and engagement for members through personalized communications, recognition, and exclusive events.
This role requires participation in PIH Health and community events to support donor engagement, as well as collaboration with external consultants when needed.

Required Skills
The ideal candidate for Philanthropy Officer, Major Gifts should bring strong skills, demonstrated expertise, and enthusiasm in the following areas:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey the organization’s mission and program goals.
- Proven success in cultivating donor relationships and soliciting gifts of $25,000 or more.
- Expertise in donor research and prospect identification.
- Ability to create and interpret financial and narrative reports, including spreadsheets and graphs.
- Experience developing and managing project plans and timelines.
- Background in major and/or planned giving; knowledge of the hospital fundraising landscape is strongly preferred.
- Comfortable working independently while being a collaborative team member.
- Strong relationship-building skills with donors, community leaders, and stakeholders.
- Exceptional organizational, leadership, and interpersonal abilities.
- Self-motivated with a strong sense of initiative and follow-through.
- Displays sound judgment, discretion, and professionalism.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook) and donor management systems such as Blackbaud’s Raiser's Edge and/or Maestro.
Required Experience
Required:
- A minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in major gift solicitation and/or planned giving within a hospital, healthcare organization, or similar nonprofit setting, demonstrating increased levels of responsibility and leadership.
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
